Taobat is the final jewel at the northern tip of Neelum Valley in Azad Kashmir, where the Neelum River enters Pakistan from Indian-administered Kashmir. Surrounded by lush green meadows, snow-dusted peaks, and peaceful wooden homes, Taobat is an untouched paradise perfect for travelers seeking serenity, nature, and cultural connection. In spring and summer, the valley comes alive with blooming wildflowers, sparkling streams, and fresh alpine air, offering a unique blend of beauty and tranquility. Fazilia Trust Pakistan invites you to explore this remote village through sustainable, community-hosted experiences that directly support local livelihoods.
The journey begins early from Islamabad, traveling by private vehicle along a scenic route through Muzaffarabad and upper Neelum Valley. After a stop in Muzaffarabad for lunch, the drive continues along the Neelum River, passing Keran and Dawarian. By late afternoon or evening, the group arrives in Sharda, a charming riverside town famous for its historical ruins. Guests check into a local guesthouse and enjoy a traditional dinner before resting for the night.
After breakfast in Sharda, the group continues deeper into the valley, passing through Kel and eventually reaching Taobat, the final village near the Line of Control. The scenic route winds through forested hills, clear streams, and wooden bridges. Upon arrival in Taobat, guests settle into a community-run homestay or wooden cottage, surrounded by alpine beauty. The day includes a guided walk around the village and riverside meadows, with opportunities for photography, storytelling, and interaction with local families. Dinner is served with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
This day is dedicated to discovering the hidden corners of Taobat and its surroundings. Guests can take optional short hikes to nearby hamlets, visit the confluence of the Neelum and Qazi Nag Rivers, or simply relax by the water. A local guide shares stories of the region’s cultural heritage, and guests may take part in seasonal activities like farming or traditional cooking. The peaceful environment, wooden houses, and untouched beauty make this a true escape. In the evening, a cozy meal and optional bonfire are arranged (weather permitting).
After breakfast and a slow morning in the mountains, the group begins the return journey via the same route through Kel, Sharda, and Muzaffarabad. Scenic breaks and photo stops are arranged along the way, with a lunch stop before descending into the plains. Arrival in Islamabad is expected by evening, bringing a peaceful and memorable journey to a close.
